Scars for Future Wars - Jordan Jongema

\nPenned with a Chainsaw, spilling his O-blood across every page, Jongema relives the raw, agonizing torment of his personal warzone with deathly alcoholism and the profound impact it has had on his life. From the highs of performing live music and global travels to the devastating lows of being trapped within the bottle, almost losing his life via a horrendous death sentence from Delirium Tremens, each chapter explores the duality of grace and despair, navigating forward and backward suffering with a damaging mental game in decline. Jongema vividly recounts moments of clarity and chaos, revealing the transformative power of confronting one's demons through writing and befriending the cold truth. Grappling with haunting PTSD and an immovable form of misanthropy, readers witness the two-sided traits of addiction-both a relentless adversary and a misbegotten source of comfort.\n \nSet against the backdrop of various locations in Western Canada and America, the prose captures the essence of anxiety fought on a daily basis, metaphorically represented as navigating through darkness with just a flickering light. An exploration of resilience, offering a cathartic glimpse into the human condition, Scars for Future Wars is a grim narrative that will inspire anyone grappling with their own battles. It reminds us that the power of choice can be the deciding factor in preventing us from swimming in Hell.\n
